Note

Jane Crawford was born in Ireland, the daughter of John and Jane Crawford, in 1793. It is assumed that she married Thomas Abbott in Ireland before they emigrated to Prince Edward Island, where their daughter Jane was born, and then to New Brunswick where other children were found in Chatham church records.

Jane followed her children to the United States. Her husband Thomas' date of death was not recorded, but she was a widow by 1860. It looks like she travelled to New York State with Thomas, Anna or Jane, then with Anna and her family to Iowa, where she was found in the 1860 census with her son-in-law Joseph and grandchildren. In 1867, she was living with her daughter Jane Woodside in Davenport. Sometime after Ann's death she returned to New York, where she was living with her son Thomas in 1870 and 1880.

Jane Crawford Abbott died in Manhattan, New York in 1885 at the age of 92. Her address at the time of her death was 3082 or 3083 3rd Street.
