Letter to John Dyment, Upper Canada, March 28th 1841

"Father fails fast, mother fails very fast. She is wonderfully crippled up. She still grieves about her family in America. She weeps daily about them. She longs to see them once more, if she could. She is a tender loving mother to children. Charles wrought this always when i go home, she tells about her dear children in America. Father would be glad if he could see his dear boys once more, but it is unlikely that you will ever see each other again...Your brothers and sisters remember to you all. Elizabeth is farming and doing well. William is doing well, he had five children. Mary is living to Tavistock. She is doing well, she has three children. Eleanor is farmering in Meddon and doing well, she has three children, Charles has one child. Sarah is married and got one child. Johanna is not married yet..."Sarah Barrett
