Notes

Note

Mary England married William Simmons or Seaman from Lot 12 in 1860. They had two children, James and Sarah Jane. James and Sarah Jane were baptized on 26 July 1863 in O'Leary, the children of William Symons and Mary Ann.

In 1881, Mary Seamans, a widow age 41, was in the household of her brother, Edward England with her children, James, 19, and Janie, 18. When her father died, he asked that his daughter Mary Ann be provided with a living. By 1891, Mary Ann and her daughter Sarah Jane were living in a large house in Summerside, and were running a boarding house.

In 1901, Mary said her date of birth was 15 December 1840, which doesn't match the date on her baptismal record. Her son James had died a few years earlier at the age of 33, and two of his children were living with her, as well as her daughter and her husband, Charles G. Wright. However, in 1911, Mary Ann Seaman said she was born November 1839.

In 1906, she bought a house on Second Street, for use as a boarding house.

Mother Mary Ann and daughter Jennie were both widows in 1921. Sarah Jane continued to run their boarding house, Seaman House, after her mother's death in 1933.

...the passing of Mrs. Mary Seaman at her residence on Second Street, Summerslde, at the advanced age of 89 years. Mrs. Seaman was well known and for many years kept the “Seaman House," which of late years has been carried on by her only daughter.
