In the 1930 census, William was living with his mother and step-father. Although he had filled out an registration form for WW1, he indicated on this census that he had not served. On his Old Man draft card in 1942, he gave Mrs. W. C. Campbell as his contact, in Provincetown, Mass. There was a record of a marriage between Mary J. Alexander and William C. Campbell in Massachusetts in 1931.
