of Decr. 1806 in the 67 year of his age.
They have left four Children to lament the loss of the most virtuous affectionate and tender parents.

James Townsend died at his home in Park Corner on the 20th of December, 1806, in the sixty-seventh year of his age. His wife, Elizabeth Townsend, died on the 17th of April 1795. Both were buried on their own property on the east side of Campbell's Pond. Heath Montgomery is now in possession of the property once owned by JamesTownsend.

Rev. John Murray is publishing an early history of New London. It has been in three papers.

James Townsend was living on the east side of Campbell's Pond. He came to New London in 1775 with his wife and five children. He settled Park Corner after the name of his native place in Bedfordshire[sic], England. Mr. Townsend was a trader. He supplied the early settlers with groceries. He also supplied them with alcoholic beverages such as rum, whisky, brandy, etc. These beverages were regarded as necessaries of life in the early days. Prohibition had not even been dreamed of at that time in Prince Edward Island.
