Daniel gave his parents' names as William and Fanny on the record of his marriage to Sarah Dixon. However, there was no Daniel in the family of William and Ann Gass in 1881, but there was a Daniel of about the right age with the family of Joseph Gass and Sarah Taylor. There was also a William Gass married to Euphemia Jane Matheson - this William's obit did not include Daniel.

From Canadian and US census records, there would only seem to be one Daniel Gass from PEI. None of the children of William Gass name Daniel as a surviving brother in obituaries.

Daniel's name was Daniel Ephraim on the birth record for his son Francis Lester. It was Daniel Edmund on his social security application.

Daniel married Sarah Dixon in 1896, although they gave earlier dates on census records.
