In the passing of Mrs. Herbert Reeves on June 25 Victoria West has lost one of its best-lived and most highly respected residents. Her passing so calmly and with such a short period of suffering seemed a fitting ending to her gentle life. As her friends took their last look at the loved countenance happiness and peace seemed depicted there; and assured them "that there is a better land not so far away and she has entered in." Mrs. Reeves was 73 years old. She was always at her place at the services. She was a member of the Presbyterian Ladies Aid Society and she will be missed. Deceased was a daughter of William and Rebecca MacArthur of Enmore. Besides her grief stricken husband she leaves to mourn Margaret, Mrs. Lloyd Leard, two daughters Ada, Mrs. George Pye and Oressa who predeceased her some years ago. Surviving sisters are Mrs. Malcolm MacKenzie and Mrs. Albert Moore, Victoria West. Surviving brothers are Hugh, Pensacola Florida; James, Mt. Pleasant; Obediah, Summerside; William, Enmore. One brother, Artemis, killed near Portage, and one sister Mrs. David Banks, Poplar Grove and another brother Hall of Aurora, Illinois, predeceased her.

Mary Jane and Malinda were twins, although the dates of birth they gave on census records varied. They were both 15 in the 1881 census. The 1901 census record for Mary Jane gave February 5, and her sister Malinda Margaret's entry said February 10.
