Most sources give the name of Cassie McDougall's husband as Charles Gripps from New York. Her husband was actually Charles CRIPPS. Charles Edwin Cripps from Nova Scotia and Cassie McDougald, daughter of Duncan and Elizabeth (McArthur) were married in Manhattan in 1887.

In the 1900 census, all members of the Charles Cripps household gave their birth place as New York. Cassie's date of birth was recorded as 1873 (age 26 in 1900) which did not seem likely, given that she had been married for 13 years by that time. Ten years later, Cassie Cripps' year of birth was the more reasonable 1862. Both Charles and Cassie gave their place of birth as Canada in this census. Children were Mary, Edward, Margaret, Annie, Beatrice.

There were three birth records for the children of Charles Cripps and Cassie McDougall in New York records: an unnamed male in 1888; one for Margaret Grace in 1891 (which does not match the daughter named Maggie in the census records), and one for Beatrice, born in 1894. These daughters do not match the names and ages of the children in the 1900 census, and Cassie's statement that she had had 4 children, all living. In the 1910 census, Cassie said 5 children, 4 living. There were death records for a daughter Beatrice, born in 1901, who died in 1902 and later, for Mary in 1918.

What seems likely is that the daughter as Margaret Grace, born June 1891, was called Annie Grace, born June 1892 in the 1900 census, and another daughter was named Margaret, born about 1896.

In 1920, Cassie was a widow living with her son, Edward A. Cripps. None of her daughters were in the household. I was unable to find Catherine/Cassie in any further census records, including New York 1925, and US Federal 1930. Annie married Frank Love.
