Hugh and Jane had three children in the 1891 census, Evelyn, Percy and Ella. In the 1901 census, Hugh and Jane were in Lot 9 with Evelyn, Percy, Ella, Vina, Elsie, Olive, Byron, Dorothy H.

Percy died in 1908, and Ella in 1909, so there could be some other errors in the 1911 census, which listed Evelyn, Percy, Ella, Vina, Elsie, Olive, Byron, Dorothy, Plona, John (20), Peter (age 1), and Alfer (11). John and Alfred? were not in the previous census. It looks like they gave the names of all of their children, not the surviving ones who were living at home.

Blanchard, born in 1910 and baptized in 1914, was not in the 1911 census, unless he is the same son as Peter.

In 1921, only Byron and Dorothy were living at home.

There passed peacefully away at her home after a lingering illness on Wednesday morning Sept. 2 1936, Mrs. Hugh McPhee, Sr., nee Jane Adelade McLean, daughter of the late John. A McLean of Brae, Lot 9. Born in the year 1862... She leaves behind a devoted and sorrowing husband, three daughters, and one son namely: Byron, Coleman; Evelyn, at home; Mrs. Spurgeon Leard, Charlottetown; and Dorothy, at Brookline, Mass.

Three brothers, Augustus, living in Alberta; Heber J. at Hyde Park, Mass.; and John, Seattle, Washington. Four sisters: Mrs. Lowe, Arcola, Sask; Mrs. McFadyen, Lowell, Mass., Mrs. McEndy, Providence, RI; Mrs. Crosby, Stanford, Conn., all being younger than the deceased.
