The Islander – Mar 2, 1866 Married. At the Manse, on the 22d ult., by the Rev. Thos. Duncan, Mr. William Beer, to Miss Mary Ann Favrour, both of Lot 31.
The PEI Baptismal Index lists the following children for William Beer /Beers and Mary Ann: Theresa Jane (1867), Martha Elvina (1869), Mary (1873), and Hattie (1876). The family was under the name Bears/Beals in the 1881 census for Lot 31. In the household were William (44), Mary Ann (36), Jane (15), Elvina (11), Mary (9) and Haty (4). William is a farmer, and the family is Church of England. In the 1891 census, William Beer (55) was living with his wife Mary Ann (50) and daughter Martha (21).
In 1901, William (62) was living with his daughter Mary (Minnie, born January 2 1874) and her husband Thomas Beer. His date of birth was given as January 4 1839. His marital status was married, and he was retired. However, Mary Ann was not in the 1901 census in that, or any other, household. It was possible that she was visiting a married daughter in the States.
Their two older daughters had married and were living in the United States, Minnie had died young, and Hattie was married and living on the Island.
In the 1911 census, William (76) and Mary Ann (65) were on their own.

In the village of Kingston, PEI for many years resided a worthy couple, Mr. and Mrs. William Beer. During the past few weeks both have exchanged earthly scenes and familiar surroundings for the “land of pure delight where saints immortal reign.” Both enjoyed physical energy and faculties of body and mind for many years.
Towards the eventide of life Mr. Beer’s hearing became somewhat defective and his eye sight grew dim but otherwise he continued to live until Oct. 2nd 1923 when his translation took place in the 89th year of his age.
Mrs. Beer, however, retained her faculties both of body and mind until its close of an active and energetic life. The call eventually came somewhat suddenly; only a brief illness and then she passed away to the “House not made with hands eternal in the Heavens” on March the 11th, 1924, having lived for 84 years.
On February 22nd, 1922 Mr. and Mrs. Beer celebrated their fifty-sixth wedding anniversary having been married February 22nd, 1866. During these many years they resided in the same locality and enjoyed the fellowship and confidence of their many friends. Both were members of the Methodist Church and loyally supported the interests of the church.
There were four daughters in the family, three of whom are still living to mourn their loss: Mrs. Eden Tillson, Plymouth, Mass; Mrs. William Morrow, Farmington, Maine; and Mrs. Benjamin Ward, residing at Hampshire, being the only one on PEI. Mrs. Thomas Beer was translated to the “Better Land” almost six years ago.
