Laughlin's obituary was published in the Summerside Journal - 10 January 1938, page 2, col. 5
Laughlin's date of birth on his death certificate did not match the date given on the 1901 census - May 27 1853. He married Zena/Zina/Zinia Mitton, and lived in Northumberland County, New Brunswick.
They had four sons and three daughters. In the 1901 census, their children were Andrew, Matilda. Wilford/Wilfred and George. At the time of his death, Wilfred was the only surviving son, and George his only surviving brother.
He died in Barryville, New Brunswick at the home of his son Wilfred at the age of 84.
