In the 1900 US census, Catherine said she had had 6 children, 3 living. These would be Ewen Alexander, John Hubbard, and Robert. Catherine gave her place of birth as Saint John, NB on Massachusetts birth records for two of her children and on some census records.
There was a marriage bond taken out in March 1872 for Archibald Johnstone and Catherine Howatt. The bond didn't give the marital status of the bride or groom. Archibald and Catherine were married in April 1872.
In his brief history of the Johnstones of Long River, Arthur Johnstone said Archibald was married twice - to Mrs Catherine McDonald and to Aletha Hockins.
