There was laid to rest on December 30 in the Presbyterian Church the remains of Mr. James Ramsay one of the oldest residents of Tyne Valley. He belonged to a very old family which came from Scotland as far back as 1770. The original pioneers of the Ramsay stock were John Ramsay and his wife who belonged to Argylshire Scotland and who in coming to Canada settled in the vicinity of Malpeque where some of the family still reside. Alexander, son of the above John Ramsay and father of the deceased was a devoted elder of the Tyne Valley Presbyterian Church for many years. He was ever ready to asist in every good object. James, his son, inherited his Scottish loyalty to the Church of his father's being one of the late managers of the home Church for many years and took and active part in all that concerned the welfare of his beloved church. For some years past, owing to failing health he was unable to be in attendance on the church services, but this fact did not seem to loosen his interest in the general welfare of the Church. He was true to all his inherent Scottish training in the Church of his fathers...
He was the last of the old Ramsay stock save for the only surviving member, his sister, who is Mrs. Elizabeth Fraser of Belmont, PEI.
In politics, Mr. James Ramsay was a staunch Conservative, always following the adventures with keen interest...
He leaves to mourn their loss his widow and the following members of his family, Mr. Alfred Ramsay, New Hampshire; Edmund on the homestead, Tyne Valley; Mrs. J. A. Stewart, Tyne Valley; Mrs. Margaret McNeill, Roxbury, Mass; Mrs. D. I. MacAusland, Marysville, NB; Mrs. Arthur Millar, Ellerslie; Pearl Ramsay, Tyron; Eleanor Ramsay, Boston, Mass.
Children named in James' will were sons Edward and Spurgeon, and unmarried daughters Pearl and Eleanor.
