From Dad's scrapbook:
The funeral of Ethel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Dyment of Northam, on Sunday last, March 22nd, was largely attended. Notwithstanding the bad condition of the roads eighty carriages joined in the procession to Tyne Valley, where interment was made. An impressive funeral service was conducted in the Tyne Valley Presbyterian Church by Rev. J. C. Martin assisted by Mr. H. H. Simpson. Four cousins of the deceased acted as pallbearers namely: Arthur Maynard, Hatfield Maynard, Harvey Colwill and Athol Colwill. Beautiful floral tributes were received from the following: Pillow - The Family; Spray - Brother Wilfred; crescent - Uncles and Aunts; Crescent - Mrs. Annie Maynard and Family; Spray - Miss Jean Flemming, Moncton; Spray - Mrs. Fleming and family, Moncton; Crescent - Mrs. R. Birch and Miss Adams; Crescent - Miss Blanche Miller (teacher at Northam); Wreath - Students at Pine Hill College; Wreath - Northam Sunday School; Crescent - Northam Womens Institute.
Ethel was a bright cheerful child and will be sadly missed, not only in the home, but throughout the entire district. The school will be saddened for many days to come, and the Sunday school, where she had won several prizes for memorizing Bible verses, will always miss her smiling face. The hymn which she played and sang more often than any other was This World is not my Home. We wonder now if she realized, even in health that her mansion was almost ready for her. In death a sweet smile lighted up her face, as though she had caught a glimpse of the radiance beyond the narrow divide. She leaves to mourn, beside her father and mother, three sisters and nine brothers: Eleanor (Mrs. Geo. Marchbank) of Alma, P.E.I.; Laura (teacher at Mount Royal); Annie at home; A. Hatfield, at Pine Hill College, Halifax; Wilfred, in Montreal; Herman, at Alma, P.E.I.; Edward, at Northam; William at Rochester, N.Y; Clifford at Topsfield, Mass; Roy, Spurgeon and Russel at home. All the family with the exception of William and Clifford were at home for the funeral.
