Narrative

There is no birth record for Eli and Susan's son Willis, but there is one for Henry E. - given that the Dyment who married Isabelle McLean was called Henry in news reports, and Willis on the marriage record, I have to conclude that Willis and Henry were the same son. The birth record for Henry Eli says "see note from Town Clerk of Hudson", but the note has not been transcribed or included with this record - very likely it was a record of the change in name.

News items in local papers show that Willis was definitely the name he and the family used:
The Telegraph - Dec 5, 1906 Master Willis Dyment of Bowers street is confined to his home with the mumps.
The Telegraph - Nov 5, 1907 Willis Dyment is ill with scarlet fever.

Willis was the only surviving son of Eli Dyment and Susan Poole. He and his older brother John were living with their parents in 1910. Willis, age 28 and born in Hudson New Hampshire, married Isabel McLean from PEI in 1930. Her parents were William McLean and Florence McLeod. Willis's occupation was laundryman. In 1940, Willis and Isabel were living in Nashua with their two children.

Charlottetown Guardian Wednesday July 28, 1954
Mr Willis Dyment is spending his holidays with his uncle, Mr. James Dyment and other relatives.

He died in 1955, as a result of a car accident near Moncton New Brunswick on his way to visit P.E.I. At the time, he was widowed and age 54; he had been traveling with another family, and their son had been in the car with him. His death certificate is under the name Henry Dyment in the New Brunswick archives, and Henry is the name used on his obituary in the local New Hampshire papers. But they link the Isabelle who married Willis Dyment, with the Henry Dyment who died in New Brunswick.

Daily Boston Globe - Jul 5, 1955
Two Massachusetts residents died here today after accident near River Glade on the Moncton-St John highway The victims were Henry Dyment 55 of 55 Myrtle St and John Charles Irving, 10, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Irving, Stoneham. A car driven by Dyment left the road at a curve. The boy was riding with Dyment while his parents followed in another car. All were heading towards Cardigan, PEI for their summer vacation.

Boston Globe, July 7 1955

Note - not to be confused with the other Willis Dyment, son of Robert and Margaret, born in New Hampshire in 1898.
