Lily Gertrude Burgoyne was the daughter of George Russel Burgoyne and Annabelle Chappell, according to the History of Margate, her father's obit. and the PEI Baptismal Index. Her gravestone says Lily Gertrude (Burgoyne) Wood, October 8 1891-October 2 1972. Some sources say her first name was Lilea or Lilla.

Lily married Lemuel Wood in 1909. They had Mildred, and another daughter who died young. Lemuel signed up to go overseas when war was declared with Germany.

Lily's marrage to Lemuel Wood ended in divorce, not long after he returned home from the war. When Llly's father died in 1920, the obituary said "He leaves to mourn his loss a heart-broken widow, one son, John Russel, and two daughters, Mrs. Keir McAllister [Cassie Mildred] of Fountain Road, and Lilla at home, to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father."
