PEI Births database lists William Johnstone, born to David (miller) and his wife Jeanette MacMurdock, Lot 19, 12 Feb 1824.

There was a David Johnston, son of William and Catherine, who died December 1870 at the age of 21 in the New London Protestant Cemetery - possibly a son of this couple.

Jane Johnstone Whitehead's parents were William and Catherine Johnston, who were buried in New London cemetery - Catherine died at age 41 or 44 in 1873.

Undocumented family tree says that other children were Angus, Christiana, John, William...Unfortunately, there were no records for this family in the PEI Baptismal Index.

The entry for William Johnstone, sea captian, in lot 21 in the 1861 census was for a household of 9. All were Presbyterian, and all born on the Island.

In addition to the married couple in the 21-45 age category there were:
2 boys and 1 girl under age 5 (Janet, maybe William?)
2 boys, and 2 girls, between 5-15 (David, age 12, Jane, age 11, and probably John
