There are no baptismal records for the children of John Ramsay and Margaret Penman. Christianna's name came from the History of Port Hill, Launched and from a family bible held by PEI Archives.

According to Launched, Christine Ramsay married John Brooks on December 20, 1837. They were married by William McGregor, with witnesses John Ramsay and Roger Brooks.

Children in the PEI Baptismal Index for John and Christie were William, Margaret Jane, George and Robert. Children on their gravestone were Flora, John and David. Mattie and Sophia'a parents were John and Christy on their marriage records, and Johanna's death record said her father was John Brooks and her mother a Ramsay.

Children named in John's will were: sons Robert, William, John Thomas and David, daughters Johanna, Margaret Jane, Mary, Sophia, and Martha. Mattie's will named her sisters Sophia Lord, Margaret Champion, Mary Gillespie, and Johanna Ramsay, and her brother David. The burial record for Flora says "Mrs Ashley, daughter of John Brooks". John Thomas Brooks was a witness at the marriage of Mary Ann Brooks, who lived on the Malpeque Road, which was where John Brooks' property was in Lot 67.

Christie died in 1855, according to her gravestone, which looks like a gravestone that was errected by the family at a later date. The Church burial record just says Brooks - no name, no date, so it could be anyone. Christie's death was not in the Islander, or in the collection of island newspapers by Leland Currie. Is the information about her date of death correct? There is only one other marriage record for John, to Flora, in 1870. But Mattie and Sophia, born after Christy's stated date of death, said their mother was Christy on their marriage records. How likely is it that John married another woman named Christy after the death of his first wife? No such record was found.

Daughter Johanna the wife of Hugh Ramsay, was probably married by 1861. John seems to be a married man in the 1861 census. There were two daughters under age 5 - Mattie and Sophia; Margaret, Flora and Mary Ann would be the daughters over 6. William or John would be the son between 16-21, and Robert and David in the 5-16 age bracket. No further records were found for George.

John married Flora in 1870.

John Brooks was buried in St. Elizabeth's Churchyard 1886.
