Mrs. Maynard was born Sarah Jane MacArthur on October 13 1873 the daughter of the late Alexander MacArthur and Emily MacLean. She married Edmund Maynard October 26 1892 and they made their home in Northam. Her husband predeceased her in June 1961, aat the age of 97.

Mrs. Maynard was a loving wife and mother, a leader in all community work, willing to lend a hand in sickness and help neighbours and friends in any emergency. Left to mourn are two sons and six daughters.
