NOT PROVEN that Allan belongs with this family.

Allan McDougall (B) and Mary McLean (S), both of Lot 16 were married in St. Eleanor's C of E in 1833. One of the witnesses looks like Townsend, and the other Wiggins.

From the History of Belmont:
"Lawrence Sullivan of Broom House, Parish of Falkam, England, the landlord of the whole of Lot 16, gave a 100 year lease of this farm to Allan MacDougald in 1843. In 1879 it was deeded to his son-in-law Thomas Birch who died in 1900 and it was then passed on to his only son Edward, who farmed it until he died in 1910. Edward had one daughter, Amy, and two sons Milford and Budd."

The Allan Mcdougald in the 1861 census (Lot 16) was a farmer with a household of 9, all Presbyterians. There was one male in the 45-60 category, which makes it just possible that this is his family.

He was 12 years into his lease.

Allan died about 1866 at the age of 65. He didn't leave a will. Isaac McDougall, his mother Margaret and sisters Martha (and her husband Hector Mclean), Jane, Margaret and Ann signed an agreement about land in Lot 16 in 1866. No brothers of Isaac were mentioned. Land Conveyances, vol 87 pg 208-209

Margaret McLean died in 1870 at the age of 65, according to her gravestone, so this is likely her death notice:
"McDougall Mrs. Allan Summerside Journal 24 February 1870, page 3, col. 3 At Lot 16, on the 26th ult., after a long and painful illness, Margaret, widow of the late Mr. Allan McDougall, in the 66th year of her age"

Maps of Lot 16 show that the property held by Thomas Birch, and later Mrs. E. Birch, was directly across from the properties held by John McDougall.
