Notes
Note
According to Mary Matilda's death record, her parents were John Moore and Mary Robins. Her marriage announcement added the information that the Moore family had moved from Pownal to Prince County.
In Pownal, there were birth records for Matilda, Alice, Lemuel, and Charles Henry Pope for John and Mary Moore of Pownal, and Jane and Charles H. appeared in the 1881 census with their parents, and in the 1891 census with their widowed mother.
John Moore had died in Victoria West November 2 1887 at the age of 91, and his wife Mary Robins died in 1895, from their gravestone. The death notice for John gave him the title Captain and confirmed that he was originally from Pownal.
There was also Samuel Braddock Moore, also born in Pownal, and who had also settled in Victoria West. He was the son of John Moore and Elizabeth Braddock. This is from a family tree on the Island Register: "Elizabeth Braddock (1.Samuel1) b. Apr 04 1797, Nans Villa, Charlottetown Royalty, PEI., Baptised: May 29 1797, m. John Moore, b. May 29 1796, Baptised: Jul 24 1796, (son of Capt. John Moore and Mary Saunderson) Note: Resided, Nans Villa, Charlottetown Royalty, PEI. Elizabeth died ___ 1839". Other children of this couple were Hannah (1828-1829), Hannah Mary (1833), James Hannibal (6 oct 1829), John Artimas (21 Dec 1823), and Susanna (1835).
Since the first recorded child of John Moore and Mary Robins wasn't born until the 1840s, it isn't out of the question that she was his second wife, especially given their ages at the time their children were born.
