Malcolm was married twice, to Nancy McKay and Catherine MacLean. His family of 14 included, and not in order: Donald, William, Allan, Duncan, Hugh, Neil, Norman, Charles, Malcolm, Margaret, Daniel, John, Lauchlin, and Flora. (Climbing the Hill)

The history of Hamilton says children with Nancy were Donald (1800), Neil (1801-1875), Malcolm (1803-1888) and Margaret (1783-1859). Children with Catherine were Duncan (1809), John (1811-1871), Lauchlin (1813), Hugh (1815-1910), Allan (1816-1891), William (1819-1861), Flora (1820), Charles (1822), Norman (1825-). These match the record for this family in Margate/Princetown church records.

Died. At Oyster Cove, Lot 18, on the 11th instant, after an illness of five days, Mr. Malcolm McKendrick of that place, aged 81 years. The deceased was one of the oldest native inhabitants of this Colony; was characterised by a peaceable disposition, and unobtrusive manners; lived on good terms with all his neighbours, and was for many years a consistent member of the Presbyterian congregation at Princetown. His reliance on the merits of the Saviour continued firm and unshaken to the last. His end was peace.
