According to Launched, History of Port Hill, Albert was the son of Donald and Sarah Ramsay. When he married Elizabeth McFarlane on Oct 14 1878, D. C. Ramsay and James Barclay were witnesses, which supports his connection to the Port Hill Ramsays.

Albert was age 31 in the 1881 census, with his wife Elizabeth and two children, Marion Sophia, 3 and Nathan Alexander, age 1. By the next census, there were David, Margaret, Charles, and Ethel.
Elizabeth was a widow in the 1901 census. At home were Nathan, Minnie, David, Margaret, Charles, Brewer. Ethel was not with the family.
Albert's death notice said he was the son of David Ramsay.
