Son of John S. Dyment and Maude Gibson.
Leon was born October 28 1934 in Wenatchee, Washington. The family moved to Tacoma when he was 8. At the age of 17, Leon joined the Navy; after his retirement he continued to work for the Navy in the Mare Island Shipyards. He was survived by his wife, one daughter and three sons.
