Mary and Alexander McArthur were both from Lot 16, and both married into the Lee family of Lot 19. Effie McArthur who married Walter Chappell, was also from Lot 16, according to her marriage record.

Notes compiled by a daughter of Newton and Grace Lee:

Grandma Lee was Mary McARTHUR. Alex McARTHUR married Ellen LEE our grandfather’s sister, so the family were 1st double cousins. Mary McArthur Lee's mother was a McLAUGHLIN.

Euphemia McArthur married Walter Chappelle in St. Eleanors Church of England in 1834. Walter was from Lot 19, and Euphemia from Lot 16; Newton Lee, also from Lot 19, and Joshua Smallman were witnesses.

In 1881, the only Walter of the right age had a wife "Harriet". They were both age 75, both born on the Island and Presbyterian. I believe this was Euphemia, the nickname Effie being mistaken for Hattie by the census taker. With them was Catherine Chappell, age 17. They were living in Lot 18, and Walter was a labourer.

In 1891, Effie was living with her son John, a widow. On this census, she said that both of her parents were born on the Island.

Another possible son of theirs was Daniel, or Donald Chappell:

John Allan Chappell born Alberton in 1870 died in New Brunswick in 1942, parents Daniel Chappell and Mary Ramsay, both from Alberton PEI. Donald and Daniel could be the same man - Donald Chappell was born around 1835 on the Island. Mary Ramsay Chappell was a widow by 1891.

Donald Chappell was a witness when Sarah Jane Chappell married in New Brunswick.

Effie is believed to have died before 1901.
