There are no baptismal records for the children of Hugh McArthur, who arrived on the Island in 1770.

If this Hugh McArthur was the father of Euphemia, born around 1807, then he was probably born around 1782 - thus fitting into Hugh Sr.'s family. A map of the Sullivan estate, Lot 16, show two properties under the name Hugh McArthur, and one under Gilbert.

Lot 16 entries for the 1841 census did not survive.

There are records for two children of Hugh McArthur and Betsey McLaughlin from Lot 16 in the PEI Baptismal Index. Hugh was probably alive in 1852, at the time of his daughter Ann's marriage, but was not in Lot 16 at the time of the 1861 census. James and Gilbert were the only two McArthurs in Lot 16 in 1861.

Mary and Alexander McArthur were also from Lot 16, and both married into the Lee family of Lot 19, as well as Effie McArthur who married Walter Chappell, also from Lot 19. They did not stay in Lot 16.

The best fit for these Lot 16 McArthurs seems to be Hugh and Betsey.

Grandma Lee was Mary McARTHUR. Alex McARTHUR married Ellen LEE our grandfather’s sister, so the family were 1st double cousins. Her mother [Mary's] was a McLAUGHLIN.
