1918 - Gunner John Proud, the veteran of' two wars and one of the ablest and pluck- lest firemen who ever mounted a. ladder or fired a gun.

The sudden death occurred in this city on Saturday night of Mr. John Proud. caretaker oi the G. W. V. A. home, widely known and esteemed as a member oi the Fire Department and a veteran of the South African war and the recent, Great War.

The deceased left to mourn his widow, 5 daughters, Mrs Nelson Hooper, Mrs William Welsh, Mrs Harry McNevin and Mrs Alear Arsenault of Charlottetown, and Mrs W. B. Almond, Saskatchewan, Sask, and two sons, Melvin of Charlottetown and Lester in Regina, Sask.
