Their marriage was recorded as William Barber to Janette Cawden on 27 August 1856 by Jacob Gale, a Bible Christian minister. Uriah Williams, William Staumer (?), and John McAuslin were witnesses.

Married. On the 27th August, at the Bible Christian chapel, New Bideford, by the Rev. J. Gale, Mr. William Barlow, of Lot 12, to Miss Jane McAusland, Lot 13. The Islander 1856

William, 48, and Jane, 48, were in Lot 16 in 1881 with son Bruce and his wife Laura. John, 14, Sarah, 16, Samuel 14, Caroline 7, and William, 7.

Jane was also called Sarah Jane in the history of Port Hill, Launched.

The Farmer reports that Mrs Barlow, wife of Mr William Barlow of Wellington Mills died quite suddenly on Saturday the 20th ult. She took ill about 5 o'clock that evening and before the clock had struck hour of midnight she had expired. As soon as she became ill, Dr. Gallant was hastily summoned but he was unable to do anything to save her life, the trouble being hemorrhage of the brain. As would be expected from such a malady she never spoke after the attack. the deceased before her marriage was Miss Jane McAuslin and a sister of Mr Samuel McAuslin and other brothers of Tyne Valley.
