The History of the Brae says that Dougald McFadyen maried Zilpha Mclean and had three children, but Zilpha married William McDougall. It was her younger sister Margaret who married Dougald in 1880.

In the 1881 census Lot 9, under name McFadian.

Dougald McFadyen, born 1860, was a widower in the 1891 census with sons William (1881) and Dougald (b. 14 July 1884) and a daughter Mary (1883). All three children said, on marriage records, that their mother was Margaret.

Death notice Summerside Journal Jan 22, 1885 says she was Margaret.
