My Family Tree

Jane Dyment, daughter of Thomas Dyment and Mary Matilda Moore, was born in PEI around 1872. She was not with the family in the 1891 census. Jennie Diment, age 19 (dau. Thomas & Mary), married William F. Welch in 1890 in Massachusetts. In the 1900 US census, there was a William Welch, with wife Jennie (b. Eng. Canada in 1872) and daughter Viola, born November 1897. The couple had been married 10 years and Jennie had emigrated 11 years before.

Addie V. Welch, dau. Wm. F and Jenny Dyment, died in August 1900, less than three months after the census had been taken.

Jennie Dyment later married Herman Hosmer on 2 Jun 1906 in Malden, Massachusetts. He was 41, born in Malden in 1865, and his parents were Oren Stanley Hosmer and Charlotte E Emery. It was a second marriage for Jennie, who had been divorced.

Jennie and Herman had at least one son, Herman S. Hosmer, born in 1908, who was living with his parents in the 1910 census in Massachusetts. Herman was a last maker. They had been married 3 years and Jennie indicated on this census that she had had one child.

The couple followed her parents to Tacoma, Washington, where Herman Hosmer died in 1919. A year later, Jennie Hosmer, with son Stanley H. Hosmer age 12, was living in Oregon. Ten years later, Jennie Hosmer was 52, widowed and working for a family in Tacoma; Stanley H. Hosmer was also living in Tacoma, age 22 and single.

Jennie married a third time, to Israel Elliott. In 1940, Israel was living with his wife Jennie and step-son Stanley Hosmer, age 32. Irving was a watchman, and Stanley was a nozzle man for a hydraulic mining company. They had been living in the same house five years before. Jennie died in Tacoma in 1954 at the age of 82. Stanley Hosmer, born in 1907, died in Florida in 1977. (death recorded in Washington State Digital Archives).
