On Wednesday night, Nov. 25th. the death of Samuel Ramsay took place at his home Maple Hil , Tyne Valley where he was born eighty-one years ago... He had enjoyed good health up to a few months ago when it became evident that he was failing. Mr Ramsay was ordained an elder of the Presbyterian Church, Tyne Valley and as far as was in his power did his duty in that sacred calling with humility and faithfulness. A model Christian father who is sincerely mourned by a large devoted family.

He was a son of the late Donald Ramsay and his mother whose maiden name was Nancy Grant came to this place in the early days and settled in what was then almost a primitive forest and with a large family cheerfully took up the ardurous labor of building up a home and many are still living who remember when places were far apart and sparcely settled with doctors few and far between. What a blessing his mother was in the sick room, a strong king Christian woman who never thought of self, never refusing the call of the very poor and most needy ones without a thought of remuneration and in the cold of winter was known to go on foot, horse-back or on a bare sleigh only glad to be of assistance in time of need. Many are the tales that have been told of what comforst, hope and blessing she brought to the suffering. A marked contrast to the speed and easy way of transit to procure medical aid in these days.

The late Mr Ramsay had not passed the alloted span of life, for a man to live without having his share of care, difficulties, sickness and bereavements all of which he bore witout a murmur and was spared to see this humble home that had few earthly possessions in the beginning only the riches of blessed peace and happy contentment became one of the most comfortable and prosperous in the community and the fourth generation there.

His wife, who was a daughter of the late James Henderson of Freeland, Lot 11 predeceased him more than three years ago and of a large family ten are living - Gordon and John, Mt Pleasant, Lot 13; Willie in Boston; Mrs Nelson Ramsay, Conway; Mrs Alexander Sinclair, Hamilton, Lot 18; Mrs Edward McArthur and Mrs Clifford Doerfler, Boston, Mass; Mrs Ephraim Phillips and Mrs John Boates, Tyne Valley; and Robert at home.

He also leaves two sisters and one brother, Mrs Sarah Ramsay and William of Boston, and Mrs Susan McLean, when last heard from in Nebraska.
