Ellen was probably the daughter living at home in the 1861 census.
On the 18th ult., by the Rev. R. Laird, Mr. Alex Campbell, Richibucto, N.B., to Miss Ellen MacDougald, daughter of the late Duncan McDougald, Lot 18. The Islander – Aug 11, 1871.
Ellen was a widow by 1891, and was living in Kent County, New Brunswick with her children Albert 18, Earnest 16, Mary 14, Archie 12 and Alex Campbell 8.

When Ellen died in 1920, her obituary identified her as a daughter of Duncan McDougall, and named only a surviving brother Archibald and sister Tamar.
