Note
Catherine's baptismal entry in the St. James Anglican records was crossed out, for no recorded reason. If she was born on the date recorded, she would have been born a month after her parents marriage. Catherine gave her year of birth as 1857 on her marriage record, but 1854 on the 1910 US census, and 1855 in both 1900 and 1920; in the 1881 census she gave 1855. Unless her sister Elizabeth;s date of birth is wrong, it would have been difficult to have daughters born in January and June of the same year.
Catherine went to Massachusetts around 1886, and married Newton White in 1888. Newton died in 1904.
In the 1910 US census, she was a widow and head of household, working as a seamstress, the same occupation she gave in the Canadian 1881 census. Her 17 year old son was working as a shelver in the public library. Catherine indicated that she had had only one child in both the 1900 and 1910 census records.
