Thomas Lee was born in England. He emigrated with his parents and settled in Lot 16, where he married Mary McArthur.

In the 1861 census they had 1 male under 5, Richard Caleb; 3 males (Theodore, John, Robert) and 2 females between the ages of 6-15, 2 males (Newton,, James) and 1 female from 16-21, 1 male from 21-45, and one male and one female between 46-60, and 1 female over 60. There was one married couple, and all but one were Kirk of Scotland. One person was born in England, one in Scotland and 11 on the Island.

Thomas, at age 47, would probably be the male between 46-60. Since his father was still living, it doesn't look like he was in this household. The woman over 60 could be Mary's mother, and could also be the person born in Scotland.

In the 1881 census, Thomas was a widower:
