Daughter of John McArthur and Matilda Rogers. W. C. Smythe was a witness when Mary McArthur of Chatham married James Walker in December 1871.

Mary Walker, born 1852, was in Chatham, NB in 1891. Her father had been born on the Island, and her mother in New Brunswick. Mary and James had children Matilda, Jane, Margaret, William, Mary, Ida Helen, Florence and James Richard.

Florence's marriage record said her mother was Mary McArthur.
