My Family Tree

Son of Edward Ramsay and Flora McKay.

Missing a few children in this family, which was said to have had 7 sons and 4 daughters. The will of Archibald Ramsay, Park Corner, dated 1872 does not mention a wife; Mary Campbell had predeceased him, and it seems he did not remarry. The nine children named in his will were: William, Alexander, Eliza, Archibald, James, Neil, Ann, Christy (Charity?) and Flora. Will R-87

William Ramsay, who died in Park Corner on September 18 1922 had a twin sister Charity, Mrs. Peter Ferguson. Charity's obit mentioned her brother Alexander in the United States.

The four daughters would be Ann, Charity, Flora and Eliza. I have added Margaret Ramsay McInnis to their children, because she said on her marriage record that she was from Park Corner. Edward probably predeceased his father, either in 1860 or before 1872. James and Alexander - and perhaps also Edward and Neil - went to the United States.

Archibald purchased land in Park Corner from James Campbell in 1825.

Two of the Archibald Ramsays in the 1861 census had large households, but neither was a great fit for the known children in this family, unless some of the dates of births they gave on census records were slightly off.

The Archibald Ramsay in Lot 20 had;
3 boys and 2 girls between 5-15 (Arch Jr. or Alex, William, Neil; Flora and Charity)
1 male between 15-21 (James)
1 male and 2 females 21-45 (Edward and Eliza and Margaret??)
1 male and 1 female 45-60 (Archibald Sr. and wife Mary)

Archibald Ramsay, North New London died at 75 in 1872. Had lost his wife and one son. Survived by 4 sons, 4 daughters.
