Son of Malcolm Ramsay and Mary Murphy?

According to Pathways to the Present, James was the son of Donald, eldest son of John and Margaret (Taylor) Ramsay.
According to the Ramsay history compiled by Thomas Ramsay, he was the son of Malcolm, the sixth son of John and Margaret.

Said both parents born in Scotland on the 1891 census. Living in Lot 17.

A newspaper clipping about Isabella Ramsay Chappell said that Mrs James Ramsay, mother of Thomas E. Ramsay, was an aunt by marriage. That would also place James with Malcolm's family.

James and Anna Maxfield were married on 1 January 1835 by William McGregor, the Presbyterian minister in the Richmond Parish of Prince Edward Island. Witnesses were William Hutchinson and William Schurman.

There were three gravestones in Lot 16 for children of James and Ann Ramsay - Eliza, Eleanor b. 1838, and Elizabeth (1851-1851). "On the 22nd ult after a short but painful illness borne with Christian resignation to the Devine Will, Eliza, third daughter of Mr. James Ramsay of Lot 17 in the 23rd year of her age." Mary Ann, born 9 December 1835, was the only child of James and Ann in the PEI Baptismal Index. Will of James, Lot 17, named wife Ann; son Thomas E.; William; Donald M.; Mary Ann McMillan, widow of John; Jane, wife of John Moore; Flora, wife of Abram Maxfield; Harriet, wife of George McGougan. Will R-203

Their son Thomas, who had no surviving children, named several nieces and nephews in his will and this is where most of the names of James and Ann's children were found.

James and Ann were buried in Lot 16.
