Son of Edward and Mary (Drummond), Lot 18. Dorothy, Elizabeth, James and Edward Ramsay were all baptized on the same day, 13 Apr 1862, in Princetown, as adults.

At Bedeque, on Wednesday the 1st instant, by the Rev. R.S. Patterson, Mr. James Ramsay, Shipyard, to Miss Catharine Davison, of Malpeque. The Islander – Sep 10, 1858, Dougald and Richard Ramsay were witnesses at their marriage, in the Bedeque area - they were married by Robert Patterson.

Indenture signed 1868 between Arthur Owen and James and Catherine Ramsay; Mary, Janet, Margaret, James (Donald's son), Elizabeth, William and Dorothy Hillman, and John and Catherine Hamilton. Land Conveyances, vol 91 pg 371

The family was in Lot 6 in 1881. At home were Mary, 22; Alice, 20; Richard, 16; Edith 11; Maggie, 8; and Josephne, 5.

Alice married Amos Ramsay in 1885. In 1891, Richard, Maggy, and Josephine were at home. In 1901, only Mary Ann was living with her parents.

James left everything to his grandson James Alexander Murray in his will, with James' mother Mary receiving a share of the estate. Daighters Edith (McRae), Margaret (Starkey) and Josephine (Dunbar) each received $1.00. He assumed that his wife Catherine would live with Mary, but if Catherine outlived her daughter she would received $40/year for her maintenance.
