The family history compiled by Thomas Ramsay in the 1920s said there was a son named Archibald in this family. There were 4 males between 16-50 in the household of the Widow Ramsay in the 1798 census, which does allow for such a son. If his parents were married on the Island, after their arrival in 1770, then his date of birth would be between 1770-1782.

There aren't many records to help discover what happened to this Archibald Ramsay. The 1841 census was incomplete, and both it and the 1861 census of PEI gave only minimal information about the household. If Archibald lived to the 1861 census, then he would have been over 60. There is no male over 60 in the households of Archibald Ramsay (Lot 20), the farmer Archibald in Lot 11, or the blacksmith Archibald in Lot 11.

The Archibald Ramsay in New Brunswick., age 71 in 1871, a Gentleman, was from Beech Point, Lot 18. He had brothers Hugh and Donald.

The Archibald Ramsay household in Lot 4 in 1861 had a male over 60 - but this Archibald is claimed by the family of Malcolm and Margaret Ramsay; the same goes for the Archibalds in Lots 16 and 18.

However, he could have been an older man in a son or daughters' household in 1861.

An Archibald Ramsay in Port Hill donated to the Patriotic Fund in 1855.

The Archibald Ramsay who married his cousin Sarah Ramsay from Lot 13, died in 1881 at age 58.

There was an Archibald Ramsey in Barnet, Caledonia, Vermont in the 1820 census, not born in the United States, and probably the male in the 16- 25 age group. And an Archibald Ramsay in Newbury, Orange, Vermont, in the 26-44 age category. However, both of these men could have come from Scotland, Nova Scotia or Ontario.
