George Ellis, son of James Ellis (born England) and Marian/Marianne McArthur (born PEI) was baptized in Port Hill in 1850, no date of birth given.

Although some family trees say his wife's name was Margaret McArthur, most records say she was Margaret Matthews. This might be because of a typo in the History of the Ellis Family.

On 1 Jul 1874, in Boston, Massachusetts George Ellis age 24 and son of James and Mary married Margaret A. Matthews, 20, daughter of James and Elizabeth. It was the first marriage for both the bride and groom, who gave their place of birth as Prince Edward Island. George was a ship carpenter.

In the 1880 US census, George Ellis was 29 and head of household. He was a ship carpenter, born in 1851 in Canada. His father was born in England and his mother in Canada. He was living with his wife Maggie A., also born in Canada, age 24. They had three children, all born in Massachusetts: Percy W. Ellis (age 5), Agnes E. Ellis (age 3), and Bessie M. (age 0).

Children in Massachusetts Births for George and Margaret were: William Percy Ellis (16 January 1875), Agnes Edna Ellis (b. 28 Sep 1877); Elizabeth Marion Ellis (15 March 1880), and Arthur James (18 Dec 1883). George's occupation on records for William Percy, Elizabeth Marion and Arthur James was ship carpenter, and both parents were born on PEI.

Margaret died in 1887.

George Ellis, age 38, married a widow, Jerusha Mckenzie (age 34) on 6 Dec 1888 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts. His parents were James and Marion; hers were Ira and Mary Hurst.

In 1900, George and Jerusha were living in Watertown town (northeast part), Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States. they had been married for 12 years. Jerusha had had 5 children, 3 living. Also in the household were Elizabeth (20), and Arthur Ellis (age 13, but born in 1883); Mabel Mckenzie (age 19), and four boarders, one of whom was Henry Ambrose (age 25, b. Canada). George was a carpenter. Son Percy Ellis was living with his aunt Christie Matthews in 1900.

George died in Boston on December 25 1909 of pneumonia. He was 59. His parent's names were James Ellis and Mary McCarthey on his death certificate. He had been born in Biddeford, PEI and his occupation had been bridge builder.
